Prof. Dr. Geraldine Laloux (Belgium) is a researcher at UCLouvain whose work focuses on the cell biology of bacteria, particularly how the bacterial cell cycle is tightly controlled in space and time. Her research also investigates how spatial organization within bacterial cells, such as polar protein localization, drives asymmetry and functional specialization. The current research of her team focuses on predatory bacteria. In particular, they investigate the molecular devices involved in prey killing and how these nanomachines coordinate predatory actions with cell cycle progression.
