Dr. Birgit Hoff (Germany) is a Senior Principal Scientist in White Biotechnology at BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. White Biotechnology is increasingly recognized as an important complementary technology supporting the green transformation of the chemical industry. Dr. Hoff studied biology at Ruhr University Bochum, where she early on specialized in fungal biotechnology. In 2021, she received the Innovation Award from the Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM) for her outstanding contributions to applied microbiological research in industry. She currently leads research projects on the development and optimization of industrial production strains for various value-added products. At present, Dr. Hoff serves on the advisory board for the VAAM-leadership team.
